Bravo Co Explores
a New Devildog Friendly Place in December 2009 Ok, I am not as good as a
Doug and Andy telling stories via typing. They must have been admin or
supply.
Sunday December 20th was the scheduled ride, all were looking forward
to it, Weather was keeping most weekend warriors off the road and the
wonderful shopping and all that leads up to Christmas. After the
Cowboy win Saturday night, thank God there are not five quarters in
football. I woke up alone again well the wife was in Paris TX for
granddaughters birthday party. I woke up and started texting where and
when for today's ride, Wes is also texting me on a new gun and I had
to put him on the wait a minute list. I then find out he had to go to
the in-laws so I know what the gun would be used for .( just playing
Wes is a great father, husband and awesome son-in- law at least that
is what he paid me to say little more money I would left out the gun
part what is that incriminating is that the word for pre planning a
hit?
Back to the ride at hand, 9:30am we have the meeting place and the
time high noon kick stands up when everyone gets there.
We had 8 or so bikes, four Devildogs with one supporter and the rest
were Devildog friendly bikers. Present was our leader Blow, Danny, Jim
and his wife who just bought matching red Sportsters sporting new
decals of the Devildogs as well and myself along with Joel, David and
Pat (she thinks I forget her name all the time and I do), Pevey on a
rice burner and John.
This time of year is hard to get a where are we going ride together
between Blow Joel and myself we always get it done somehow. I have a
co- worker that has been hinting for us to go the Pirates Club at Lake
Hawkins, TX just off hwy 80. A wonderful place rustic and near the
lake they have it set up so you want to drive around the lake you are
ready for a beer both times you go by it, great marketing on their
part. I think they are on face book or u-tube, my space whatever those
social sites are. She said they have the best burgers in Texas. Now
that is a tall thing to say in Texas! So after weeks and months of
saying hey Gunny bring your crew out to the Pirates Club so today when
we still did not have a turnaround spot for our ride I sent out a text
not to eat and said where we were going yep, not a one of us knew
where it was.
When I told them Pevey the one on a rice burner I say that with love
and affection it is what it is. He knew the general area and I asked
him to take point he even stated that he was on a rice rocket and if I
was sure to let him lead, I said it is Christmas go ahead. I made sure
I was in the back. We arrive and Jim's lovely wife laid her new
Sportster in the sand, remember we are at the lake. We made sure to
let Jim our new Devildog not to be hard on her everyone does it and be
glad it was sand not hard road. I bet she will not hit that front
brake turning again. See picture they had a welcome Devildogs sign
waiting for us and called in extra help if they need it. I then texted
her and told her when we left Tyler so they would be ready. They
treated us like Kings and Queens! Blow asked for a menu and they
laughed and said something like we have burgers chips and Frito pie
did I spell that right? Sort of like going to country tavern we have
ribs sausage and drinks. Now I have had a better burger before I just
can't remember when! They were that good or I think it was a burger it
tasted like one it is that dark in there. We will go back again they
have been open for four months and are in the building process. They
asked for a sticker and I gave one to Blow to give to them they will
put it on a mirror near the pool tables our club sticker is a
overwhelming success everyone wants one. After a wonderful meal we
drove around Lake Hawkins and headed to Longview Harley shop just to
ride and wish them a Merry Christmas. Heading back the December sun
was blinding us I had to slow down as not to run over whoever was in
front of us it was that bad, we get into Tyler and everyone breaks off
on to their road home. A great ride, food and friends besides family
who better to spend time with your bike and friends. Merry Christmas
to all and to all a good night. 150 or so miles got home 5:30pm
